About Ree
(My official Tabulas profile wasn't in-depth enough for my tastes, but it exists for your perusal as well.)
New experiment: write a tiny description of myself to be placed on my blog and all its mirrors (where possible -- the crossposted LJ will work, the LJ feed of an RSS feed won't, but enough of that).
My name is Ree. It's a nickname but not just a screenname; my outgoing voicemail message starts "You have reached the phone of Ree." (The fact that the message is entirely sung does not matter.)
I live in South Dakota, USA, in a town that is small by metropolitan standards but large-ish by Dakotan rules. I like it a lot when I don't despise the citizenry for being a lot of overly-conservative fearmongers. Yes, I am a hick. You wanna make something of it, you'll have to find me amid the cornfields.
I write -- not prolifically nor all that often, but regularly. I'm told I do it fairly well, poetry and prose alike. I often use British spelling (and sometimes slang) because I like it. My usual writing partners online have been British and Australian; some of it just rubs off. And it got old having everyone from Canucks to Kiwis tell me that my spelling was "wrong" in chatrooms.
I don't consider blogging or message board roleplaying to be writing per se, but I do those as well. The blogging should be patently obvious. (Look around.) The roleplaying is freeform and carried out on a variety of message boards over time. The one true constant in my roleplaying is Profusion, my dear collective of friends, squirrels, and antelope hunters. There may also be some injokes roaming there. ;)
I read. A lot. I've been told I talk like a teacher. I won't apologise for a thriving vocabulary, but if I get confusing, there's always Dictionary.com to solve the mystery of my meaning.
I have a persisting interest in website design, development, and accessibility. I believe CSS is the future, tables are meant for tabular data only (not layouts -- get with the times!), links must be easy to distinguish from plain text, and colorblindess should always be an accessibility concern (it runs in my family). I get irritated quickly with people who do design their sites contrary to my philosophy.
I am a Christian. Some Christians are highly evangelical; I am not that kind of Christian. I have a constant interest in reconstructionist religions (particularly Kemetic Orthodoxy) and modern paganism; it just doesn't happen to be my path. I'm happy to discuss religion with acquaintances for as long as the conversation stays calm and civil.

But Tabulas remains my favourite and my online home.
